Getting to know Reece Downton

Reece Downton Safety Forward

As we continue to introduce you to our team, up next is our Business Support Administrator Reece Downton…..

Who’s someone you really admire?

Being a musician, I look up to creative people and innovators, but mostly improvisors. My biggest admiration goes to artists such as Miles Davis, for their mark on the creative arts industry and the people they continue to inspire to this day, whether in music or life.

You are on death row (wrongly convicted of course), what would your last meal be?

For starter Garlic Flatbread, main course Fiery Jerk Chicken and fries, for desert Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream, but of course all served with fruity cocktails!

What do you enjoy most about working for Safety Forward?

The team around me are brilliant and so helpful. I love the challenge of multi-tasking jobs and feel very proud when I play an important role in the overall process.

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?

Can’t really remember, but there is a very good chance it was football related!

What’s the best advice you have ever heard?

The harder you try, the luckier you get.

What’s your favourite place you have ever visited?

My favourite city to go to in the UK is Liverpool, and I have never experienced a street more full of life and action than Mathew Street.

What would your chosen super power be?

Teleportation… would save so much time!

What is your greatest achievement within work and personnel life?

I have travelled all over the UK with bands, including main stage at festivals such as Isle of Wight! I have taken my music to venues and studios with my own quartet and hosted my own jazz sessions in Staffordshire, performed with Staffordshire and National youth jazz orchestra, and I am now about to start a new journey as a jazz post graduate student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire… very proud of my musical achievements so cannot possibly choose one.

What makes your blood boil?

Hypocrisy/hypocrites or snobbery!

What’s something you want to do in the next year that you’ve never done before?

See some of Europe or America, the pandemic has made me tired of seeing the same place over and over.
