Health and Safety Consultants in the Warehousing & Logistics Sector
At Safety Forward we provide a range of services for organisations looking for health and safety consultants in the warehouse and logistics sector. We can tailor our consultancy and training courses to your exact requirements.
The UK warehouse and logistics sector has grown considerably over the years. A recent analysis by United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) and Savills found that there are over 1,500 individual warehouse units in the UK that each provide more than 100,000 sq ft of space, with over 188,000 people employed in this sector.
Warehouses and storage buildings however can be dangerous environments to work in, with many potential hazards and associated risks. Improvements in health and safety standards can therefore have a significant impact on business efficiency.

Typical risks in warehousing include:
- Manual handling/musculoskeletal disorders
- Falling objects
- Slips and trips
- Vehicles in and around the warehouse
- Working at height
- Lighting
- Hazardous substances and fire
Under health and safety legislation employers must, “so far as is reasonably practicable”, provide employees with adequate and appropriate welfare facilities, such as washing, toilet, rest and changing facilities, and somewhere clean to eat and drink during breaks while they are at work.
In addition, the employer has legal requirements concerning ventilation, temperature, lighting, cleanliness, room dimensions, workstations and seating, floor conditions, falls or falling objects, transparent and translucent doors, gates and walls, windows, skylights and ventilators, traffic routes and escalators. Many of these are of particular importance to health and safety in warehouses.
At Safety Forward we provide health and safety consultancy and training to warehouses and logistics businesses throughout the UK, keeping them up to date with new legislation, carrying out external audits, assessing risks and implementing safe working practices to ensure compliance.
